Before and during your session
- Choose Movement, then Surf and a map. Read its ready screen and controls. Free Surf is a movement session, so do not assume that it uses a timed Bhop course’s stages or finish rules.
- Approach a sloped ramp and use sideways input toward its surface: on a ramp to your right, use D; on a ramp to your left, use A. Steer with gradual mouse turns. Begin with maintaining contact rather than immediately seeking maximum speed.
- Try to leave the ramp in a controlled direction and find the next landing surface. Falling is part of learning the route. Check your saved Movement controls for restart and checkpoint actions; Escape releases the pointer and opens the pause flow.
A practice session to try
Pick one ramp and aim for several controlled entries. Once you can stay on it, work on an exit that reaches the next surface. Use the same map for comparison and change your approach gradually so you can identify why contact was lost.
Reading your results
Read the Surf session summary, including distance and ramp-contact information where shown. Free Surf rankings use their own rules; a longer session alone is not the same as a better ride, and the Bhop completion-time comparison does not apply.
Common mistakes
- Sharp mouse turns can throw you off the ramp. Start with smooth input and watch your line across the surface.
- Treating Surf as a forward-running obstacle course makes it harder to learn ramp contact. Work on sideways pressure and steering first.
